HK - 1968
The HK was the start of a brand new image for Holden, not just for the new 5.0 litre (307 Chevy) V8 but also for the larger new coke bottle shape and the options available seemed endless. Disc brakes, power windows, bucket seats (reclining or fixed), power tailgate for the wagon, choice of axle ratio, 4 speed manual transmission, trimatic on all but the 161ci and even air conditioning although this wasn't intergrated but stuck under the dash. These options were selling cars in the U.S. and GM-H saw that it would do the same in Australia. 

Ford introduced the Fairlane with it's 289ci V8 selling well which was having an effect on Pontiac and Chevrolets so GM-H took a top of the range Premier, added a larger boot and called it the Brougham. 

This car was either loved or hated, it came standard with the 5.0 litre (307ci) Chevrolet V8 and auto but didn't sell as well as expected. Holden was showing it's willingness to learn and experiment with models which was just as well for it's next new release, the Monaro which had been a rumour for two years sold very well.
