Welcome to the all new Holden Heaven
This site was first established in 1999
HT - 1969
The HT had a couple of major claims to fame one of which saw the introduction of the new 5.0 litre and 4.2 litre Australian V8 and the 307 ci was phased out. While the 327ci American motor was dropped in favour of the 350ci and was brought about by the need to win races like Bathurst. 'What wins on Sunday sells on Monday' and with Ford winning in 1967 and Holden 1968 this was being billed as the decider. Colin Bond driving his GTS 350 Monaro headed off  McPhee (Falcon) and Peter Brock (GTS 350) was third.

Some of the changes were minor to the HT but they made for a smoother on the eye car such as around the rear window which was widened. Some of the options that were available on the HT models were front disc brakes, Superlift shock absorbers, power steering, power windows, bucket seats, air conditioning and vinyl roof.

The HT had the same body as the earlier HK but was a more refined car. The Monaro's tacho which was stuck in the centre consol in the HK was now where you could see it without crashing. The Australian public by this time had almost become obsessed with V8,s and with Ford upgrading there 289ci to the 302ci GM-H released the newly developed 5.0 litre and 4.2 litre V8 engines midway in the HT's life. They quickly gained a  reputation as being tough and reliable with acceptable fuel economy, especially the 4.2 litre with it's two barrel carburettor.
